Make it Simple, But Significant - Don Draper
Well it's Sunday again which means another week looms ahead. I shouldn't say looms, we are excited about Monday's right? Right. I found my positive attitude dwindling throughout the end of last week. It's really hard to be so positive all the time. It's harder when you have this image of yourself in your head and you aren't matching it. Well here's the thing, in order to become that person you want to be (and the one you can see in your head) you have to make some changes. I had been eating relatively healthy and being active the week before, taking salads to the library, going for walks, shoveling snow, you know-- making a conscious effort. I was feeling great. Last week was such a busy one, I had so much school stuff going on, so naturally I felt I didn't have time to exercise or make that salad in the morning, and I felt it. I was tired, my motivation was down, and my sleep patterns were weird.
Why am I telling you this? For a couple reasons:
1) I don't want you to be fooled by my constant peppy blogs about inspiration and motivation. I have hard days too. Not that I'm saying those posts weren't genuine, they were and my posts will continue to be so, I'm just all about being honest with myself and that means with my posts as well, and therefore with you.
2) Exercise and eating healthy are so very important and they set and shape each and every day that you face. Treat your body like a temple. You deserve it, I promise.
3) You can do anything you want if you set your mind on it. Set your mind on something and do it. Don't just be all talk. You also have to walk the walk.
4) Fourthly this quote here:
You just have to make a decision and not look back. Be the person you see in your head and don't stop striving for it. It's not worth it and it's not fair to yourself. There is absolutely no reason you can't do the things that you want to. The positive energy that I was talking about last week is key here as well. But the thing I've discovered is that you have to fuel that energy, you can't just pull it out of nowhere. Sometimes you can, but sometimes that just isn't enough. Fuel your body with healthy foods and with exercise and the positivity that you are searching for will come too. Make a plan and stick to it as best as you can. Create a routine so that you never feel like you don't have time for something; make everything a crucial part of your day and you'll achieve more. I have been studying for an exam that is this week and today I set aside some time to do a quick work out and time to make a good healthy dinner and I feel so much better. Try it. Make time for yourself. And also remember that sleep is always worth it. If it comes down to finishing that assignment or sleeping; go to bed. Get up earlier and finish it in the morning. You aren't doing yourself(or the work) any favours.
This week is all about being the healthiest possible version of yourself: mind, body and soul. Embrace the new week with positivity, goals, and a plan to achieve them.
"Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort." - Paul J. Meyer
Welcome to a new week and a new month everyone!
