Edinburgh, Scotland. 2015

Bear with me here. I'm blogging on my phone; which is a new step into the blogging world for me.

The adventure is well underway! Scotland is such a beautiful place full of friendly and helpful people. Before I set out on my journey I had people ask me if I was scared or worried about the trip. For some reason all I felt was excitement. I feel at ease in this gorgeous country; it really does feel like coming home. I'm also travelling with four other fantastic women, so that makes it even better.

Our journeys collided in Chicago where I met three of my companions. From Chicago we flew right into the gorgeous city of Edinburgh (which still remains my favourite city in the world). Our flight together was an amazing experience. I was throughly impressed with United Airways. We had crackers, cheese and wine, a decently yummy dinner with more wine, and ice cream for desert.

We stayed at Castle Rock hostel, which was just as amazing as I remembered it being from my trip last November. The atmosphere is great and the staff is incredible. I highly recommend staying there if ever you get the chance.

We had three nights in this wonderful city and we crammed as much in as we could. We did a lot of walking in and around the beautiful streets of the city. Everywhere that you turn there is something interesting to see and explore.

The Edinburgh castle was easily my favourite part. Having not gone inside the last time, I was insistent that we explore the historic place; which naturally no one objected to. We spent hours in the castle. We did a free tour and got some history and then explored every bit of it on our own. After the castle we explored Calton hill and the Greek architecture there. It gave us another wonderful viewpoint of the city.

Our last day was bursting with adventure. We had a special garden tour at the botanical gardens at the University of Edinburgh, hiked up Arthurs seat with a Trent professor that taught my companions back at home. He gave us such a wonderful tour and answered any and every question we had. It was amazing. There was a busker at the second highest point on the mountain which gave the adventure a very special soundtrack. We stopped by Sandy bell for a pint and found the cafés where J.K. Rowling wrote her amazing books, explored Grey friars graveyard, had dinner at a traditional Scottish pub and ended the day by watching the Tattoo fireworks from the grass market courtyard.

Edinburgh is incredible. There is so much to do and see,  and I will never tire of it. It was hard to leave but we've got so much more ahead of us. That's an update for another time.

Cheers!
