Oh What A Web We Weave
Alright, so this post has been sitting in my draft pile for at least a week-- just waiting (and waiting) for me to edit and publish it. Sorry to keep it from you. When I wrote it I was lacking inspiration; I mean I couldn't find words to write any kind of post. So in writing it, I turned to my trusty-inspiration-filled site: Pinterest . I decided to search "one word inspiration" and came across a great board of one word pins. The one that struck a chord was:
It's nothing glamorous; I mean it's simple black-and-white pin. If you take a minute to think about it, what does it even mean? What does it mean to you? Google alone gives us 4 options:
Those aren't really all that exciting, are they? Being an English student and a writer I allowed my mind run away. Imagine that attached to you is a string, or a never ending piece of thread. Imagine all the moments, the memories, the people, the adventures, and all the tribulations. Through all of these, this thread follows you and wraps itself around a part of the moment. Not only does this thread always have your back, but it ties together every piece of your life to you. Your past is intricately woven by your actions, moments, and people. It makes you who you are; and that's a beautiful thing. I guess my point is you can't particularly run from your past; it is there, and it's important. You can however move forward (the future is bright after all!). That thread is unlimited and it's just itching to wrap itself around new moments, memories, people and adventures. Don't dwell on the past, but remember that it has shaped you into the person that you are-- learn something and move on. Picture this web of places you've been and people that you met, and let's say the goal is to create a big web.
This thought of a big web connecting people and moments to one another lead me to another thought. How many people have we affected without meaning to, or even realizing it? This quote here came to mind:

This thought of a big web connecting people and moments to one another lead me to another thought. How many people have we affected without meaning to, or even realizing it? This quote here came to mind:
"Do you ever look at pictures of yourself and see a stranger in the background? It makes you wonder how many strangers have pictures of you; how many moments in other peoples lives have we been in? Were we a part of someone's life when their dreams came true, or were we there when their dreams died? Did we keep trying to get in, as if we were somehow destined to be there? Or did the shot take us by surprise? Just think, you could be a big part of someone else's life, and never know it." -Peyton Sawyer, One Tree Hill.
Isn't that a nice and interesting thought? Makes you think a little bit more doesn't it? Our actions and adventures touch people that we don't necessarily know. This is a beautiful opportunity to make a simple difference in someone's life. A simple smile and a "Good Morning" to someone could change their whole day and you would never know. It's that easy.
I guess my point here is that everything we do makes a difference and that it is a beautiful thing as long as we take care to make it so. Not dwelling on the past is key though. The events that are thread together (good or bad) happened in the past, you can't change them, you can't do it again. All you can do is more forward with the memory or with the intention to fix things if you need to. And I guess something else is that we are all in this together. Life is strung together by moments and interactions and they shape us and intricately tie us together, for better or for worse.
