Honestly, I Want To See You Be Brave

I know it has been a while, and for that I'm sorry. I'm going to try to start posting every Friday again! I'm just going to jump right into this post inspired by a beautiful song! So here we go!

Sara Bareilles is such an amazing artist, her voice is captivating, unique, and just plain excellent. More importantly her songs and lyrics fit the same description. She captured my attention and most of the world with her hit "Love Song" back in 2007. The empowering nature of the song is so encouraging. I mean it's about being yourself, not doing things just because someone wants you to, and learning from the past and your mistakes.

A lot of her songs follow this empowering message and strength and "Brave" is no exception. In fact, it probably fits the description more than any of her songs. The song is explicitly about being brave enough to be yourself and say what's on your mind.To stand up for yourself and others, and don't let people drag you down. But also keep in mind that you have the power to turn your words into weapons as well.

"I wonder what would happen if you say what you want to say"

More than all of that though, it's the idea of not settling, to fight for your rights and what you want, to be strong and to go after what you want. I've written about being brave before and I might be redundant in saying all, or any, of this but I think it's important. Positivity, strength, and belief in yourself lend to brave behaviour. And in return being brave reinforces all of these traits. It's a circle, one you'll be proud to be stuck in!

Be brave enough to start over, to stand up for yourself and others, to speak up, to suggest something, to fall down, to chase your dreams, to fight for your rights, to choose your own path. Be brave enough to say what you want to say (as long as it isn't hurtful or spiteful). I want to see you be brave, so does Sara Bareilles and I know you want to see yourself be brave too.

Listen to the song if you need encouragement, sing it out and be brave. Oh and remember, Walt Disney once said "Why worry? If you've done the best you can, worrying won't make it any better". Be brave enough to be the best version of yourself that you can. I'm betting on you.
