Life Is A Book

Now that the semester is done I finally get to settle into a good book that I've chosen for my own reading pleasure. No need to analyse it, unless I want to. No need to write papers on it, unless I want to. No need but to just sit with a hot cup of tea and a wonderful adventure waiting to happen. Books are such magical things, and one of my absolute favourite things no doubt. There is nothing more thrilling than falling into another world completely, through eloquent language sewn together by the writer.  My book for Christmas break this year is Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin. I am roughly only 10 or so pages in, but already I am caught up in this world he has created. It is a magical escape that allows the imagination to run wild; like a personal movie in your head.

I want to create these magical escapes. I want to write a novel that will inspire someone to use their imagination. To throw someone out of their reality and into mine. I want to create a story that will make people believe in magic again. There is magic everywhere, we just need to keep our eyes open for it. When you read a good book, the magic pours over you, and for a writer, writing does the exact same thing. There is nothing more magical than creating a story that wasn't there before. Controlling and developing the ideas, the words, and the actions of the characters that you created. What is more magical than that? For me, nothing. Except perhaps falling into a book itself. I am working on one, and I will finish it this time. Keep your eyes open for it!

It's important to find something you believe in, something that keeps you inspired and keeps you going. There is nothing better than that moment when I know precisely what to write, or I discover something while reading. Those moments of mystery and discovery keep me going. They keep my belief in magic alive and they inspire me to do what I love. Find that in something you do, enjoy and love. Find the piece that keeps you going, it's a crucial part of the puzzle. Your dreams are never silly. Find a way to pursue them and show people that you can. A happy life starts with a happy heart, which in turn starts by doing something you love to do.

Be patient, be kind, and work hard. You'll get there.  And remember that:

Go Write Your Story.
