Shake Up The Happiness

Well it's been a while. I'm sorry there hasn't been anything new happening on Books & Things! It's been a crazy two weeks. Exams are finally done and Christmas Break is upon us! Well it's upon the students at the University of Guelph at least. For those of you who are still stressed and working hard: keep it up! You're almost there!

It's been a rough semester and I just wanted to offer some advice that I have taken away from it and hopefully inspire you.
1. positive thoughts are everything.
2. believe in yourself no matter what.
3. support from friends and family is irreplaceable.
4. you always have their support, even when you think you don't.
5. talking about it helps; bottling it up is detrimental. Also, there is always someone to talk to.
6. nothing, and I mean nothing, is ever THAT bad.
7. it's okay to cry.
8. "the day will happen whether or not you get up" - John Ciardi. Get up and get dressed in the morning.
9. eat healthy and get exercise; you might have to push yourself.
10. "Everything is okay in the end. If it isn't okay, it isn't the end."

Whatever it is you are facing: you can do it. And getting through it is worth it; I promise you that.

I hope this Holiday Season  brings everyone the peace, joy and happiness that they are searching for. It's a time for EXTRA giving, cherishing, encouraging and accepting, because really... we should be doing these things every day. I challenge you to start doing little things everyday to show someone, anyone, that you care. It's not always the big gestures that are the most impressive. It's often an abundance of little things that build into something great. And remember to always treat people the way you wish to be treated. Always.

To end on a happy note here is my favourite Christmas song: Shake up the Happiness by Train. Hopefully it brings a smile to your face. Smiles are beautiful.
Enjoy, and remember to share the happiness; it's Christmas time :)
