Octobers, Thanksgiving, and a Special Birthday Wish
As you will come to know, or maybe already do, I absolutely
adore Anne of Green Gables. She is simply one of my favourite characters ever
written. So that, plus her quote about October seems rather fitting for this
Thanksgiving weekend. October is a wonderful month. The bright colours and crisp temperature quite literally change my mood; every day seems brighter and more
colourful. It is also a month full of special birthdays! In fact, today is my
mum’s birthday! Happy birthday mum, I love you so much!
This weekend also marks our Canadian Thanksgiving. Despite
the fact that the week after thanksgiving is the week that every professor
wants you to hand in some big assignment, or write a midterm, it’s a fantastic
weekend. In all seriousness though, I think the professors get together and
plan that out. Thanksgiving is never truly relaxing. No matter what, you can’t
really escape the stress of the coming week that looms over every student.
Putting that aside for a little bit (about 20 minutes,
seeing as I leave for class really soon) this is the weekend that we really take the time to give thanks for everything we have in life. We really should be thankful every single day
and truly appreciate all that we have, especially the little things. It’s the
little things that are truly special. This thanksgiving try giving thanks for
all the little things in your life, you’ll find you have more to be thankful
for than you ever realized.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend full of thanks,
grace, family, friends, love, and laughter.
I leave you with this quote by Thornton Wilder:
“We can only be said to be
alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.”
Cheers
J
